Pathfinder Pharmaceuticals focuses on the earliest stages of drug discovery and development.  We apply emerging science to clinical problems.  We take a collaborative, inter-disciplinary approach to identifying opportunities to make better medicines and then inventing the candidates that will become those medicines.

Our business model follows four steps:

·         Invent novel drug candidates

·         Protect these inventions with patent filings

·         Demonstrate their value by development through a clinical proof of concept

·         Capture their value by licensing to a larger pharma partner for late stage development and commercialization

This model creates a self-sustaining cycle of innovation and revenue generation as Pathfinder scientists identify and pursue the opportunities created by their ongoing scientific discoveries.

·         Supplies a New and Growing Market:  Large pharmaceutical companies are increasingly supplementing their internal R&D efforts with external acquisitions, but clinical-stage licensing candidates are in short supply.  Pathfinder addresses this market gap by creating such candidates. 

·         Maintains Company Focus:  Transitioning drug candidates to a larger partner during development allows Pathfinder to focus on the early stage research that is our strength.

·         Creates Solid Cash Flow:  Licensing high quality candidates provides significant, recurring revenue in the form of licensing fees, milestone payments, and royalties.

Pathfinder Pharmaceuticals was founded in 2008. The company is currently located in laboratory space in downtown Durham, NC.
